A Restless Mind

Sleep came, but it didn't stay.
I woke to a quiet house and a mind that wouldn't settle, and I know I'm not the only one. Almost everyone has nights like this, when the darkness feels heavy and thoughts show up that we'd rather keep tucked away.
If you're awake too, please remember that this is part of being human. Nothing is wrong with you because your mind is busy or your heart feels restless. Nights like these can be frustrating, but they can also remind us of something important: how resilient we really are. You've made it through every difficult night before, and you'll make it through this one too.
Do something small and kind for yourself. Take a few slow breaths. Drink a glass of water. Write down the thoughts that keep circling so they don't have to stay in your head. Then remind yourself that morning is already on its way. Light always follows darkness, even when it doesn't feel close.
This isn't forever. It's simply a passing moment in a much bigger life. Be gentle with yourself tonight. Tomorrow is another chance to begin again.
This isn't forever. It's just a passing moment in a much bigger life, and you're stronger than the night that woke you. Be gentle with yourself. Morning will come.

A Moment to Reflect
Some of our hardest conversations happen in the quiet hours when no one else is awake. Those moments can make us feel alone, yet they're part of an experience almost everyone shares at some point. Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is stop fighting the night and simply offer ourselves the same compassion we'd give a friend.
What is one small act of kindness you can offer yourself the next time sleep doesn't come easily?
